Silverlight Chat refers to a category of web-based chat room applications built in the late 2000s and early 2010s using Microsoft Silverlight. Much like Adobe Flash, Silverlight was a browser plugin used to create Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) before the modern HTML5 era.
